Get Inspired!

The Rajakapotasana
We all human need inspiration and motivation to accomplish our goals.  Goals do vary from person to person. When I started doing yoga it was not easy for me to come out of my laziness and practice Yoga in the early hours of morning. But I was inspired by reading few great Yoga quotes and it worked!

I would like to share few such quotes with you and hope you all will also get some inspiration and will achieve your respective goals successfully.

Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.  ~B.K.S. Iyengar

When asked what gift he wanted for his birthday, the yogi replied:  "I wish no gifts, only presence."  ~Author Unknown

Anyone who practices can obtain success in yoga but not one who is lazy.  Constant practice alone is the secret of success.  ~Svatmarama, Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Yoga is the practice of quieting the mind.  ~Patanjali, translated from Sanskrit

When you inhale, you are taking the strength from God.  When you exhale, it represents the service you are giving to the world.  ~B.K.S. Iyengar

Yoga and Spirituality 2

Spiritual Journey

Hello friends, as I mentioned in my previous post, I was doing some research to understand better how yoga and spirituality are connected. I guess I have got the answer and thus would like to share with you all here.

A very first thing which I understand is, Yoga is the base of spirituality. By practicing Yoga we can get energy and power to start our journey towards spirituality. We need to be aware of our full potential and our Atman.

To achieve this we need to be disciplined, focused and yoga helps you dramatically in it. Path of spirituality is not easy. Self realization and to understand our own conscious is something which we all need to learn properly. Practicing meditation, which is one the most important aspect of Yoga can lead us to our Goal where we all can find the Solace.

I hope whatever  little knowledge I've shared here, can definitely give you an insight of the topic. Feel free to comment on the post and add your valuable views in.

Yoga and Spirituality?

The Holy Ganges in Rishikesh
Ever since I started doing yoga one question was spinning around my head.  That question is what’s the connection between Yoga and Spirituality? Or how they are correlated?

After doing some research on internet and discussing with some of the experts in the subject, I found that Yoga and Spirituality are undividable. Yoga is not confined to doing exercises only. Its way of living life, it’s a thought process. In the west breathing exercises and Asanas  are only known steps to reach a high point of spirituality, whereas in India it is a subject to explore your inner strength.

While visiting to Rishikesh (India) I met a spiritual leader who told me that, the more you know about yoga the greater will be your desire to be spiritual. I am still trying to find out more clues and in my coming posts I will put forward some aspects which will throw light over, how these two rivers i.e. Yoga and Spirituality amalgamates together in the ocean of humanity!

Pranayama

Our life goes from different twists and turns. There is a tension in our daily life which hampers our health to get nourished. We all need to come out of this and thus I believe practicing yoga is not only a best way to get rid of our bad health problems but keep our minds stable and calm in all situations. In my last post I mentioned about Pranayama. Let me throw light over the topic here. Pranayama is the breathe control technique which is vital part of Yoga. This is the first step that leads you to the highest point of meditation.

Advantages of Pranayama-
  • Through pranayama you learn to breathe properly and in a healthy way.
  • It throws away all the harmful toxins out of our body.
  • Improves digestive system.
  • Helps to concentrate on one thing.
  • You feel much relaxed and energetic.
  • You start to hold control on yourself.
  • Make your lungs clear of toxins and makes it stronger.
One point of caution here is, even though Pranayama is beneficial for all of us but it should be learned  from a good yoga instructor or a teacher. Otherwise may reach harm to us sometimes due to doing it in a wrong way.

How do you breathe?

You should always remember one thing about breathing and that is breathe by your nose. It is found that people unknowingly breathe by their mouth. This lead them to many problems. One more thing which ignored by many of us is either we breathe very fastly or little by little. Such breathing practice doesn’t help us to have enough intake of Oxygen. The result is increased level of toxins in the body.

Yoga gives you the way of breathing in a right manner. Pranayama is one such breathing practice that rejuvenate your whole body and keeps you energetic always.
